Belgian Steakhouse · Torrevieja · ~14 min drive 4.3 stars · 1,400+ reviews
Something of a local legend — a Belgian-run steakhouse tucked into an industrial area of Torrevieja that draws a devoted following purely on the strength of its food. You cook premium cuts of meat yourself on volcanic lava stones right at your table, and the results are spectacular. The lobster in garlic butter is a must-try, and the ribs are among the best in the area. Portions are generous and the wine list is well priced. It’s not fancy and the location is quirky, but the food is the point — and it absolutely delivers. Go early, book ahead in peak season, and embrace the smoke.

Seafront Tapas · Torrevieja promenade · ~12 min drive
A classic seafront restaurant right on the Torrevieja promenade — no frills, no pretension, just honest Spanish food done well. The grilled squid is the standout (served as a tapa or a main), the paella is consistently good, and sitting outside watching the harbour as the sun goes down is one of those simple Costa Blanca pleasures that stays with you. Order the tinto de verano, eat slowly, and enjoy.
Paseo Marítimo, Torrevieja seafront · Daily from 10am
The small streets off Calle Ramón Gallud in the town centre are lined with authentic local tapas bars where a drink often comes with a free tapa — one of Spain’s most wonderful and increasingly rare traditions. Wander without a plan, pop into any busy-looking Spanish bar, order a caña (small beer) or a vino, and see what arrives.
The town also runs a celebrated Ruta de las Tapas festival each spring and autumn, when over 40 establishments compete with original tapas for around €2 each — well worth timing your visit around if you can.

Irish Bar & Leisure Complex · La Florida
Quite possibly the most complete family-friendly venue on the Costa Blanca — and genuinely unmissable if you’re staying in the area. The Emerald Isle is a full leisure complex with a large public swimming pool, extensive garden terraces, a proper Irish gastro-bar, and live entertainment seven nights a week in summer (and bi-weekly in winter). The food gets consistently great reviews, the Sunday roast is legendary, and the acts — from ABBA tributes to soul nights — are top quality.
The world-class bowls club on site has hosted European Championships. Whether you come for the pool on a lazy afternoon (sunbeds for €10), a long family dinner, or a full night of live entertainment, it always delivers.
Calle Marte, Urb. La Florida · Summer: daily from 10am · Winter: select evenings
Irish Bar · Late Night · La Florida
One of the most famous bars on the Orihuela Costa and a real institution. The Abbey is Spanish-run but unapologetically Irish in atmosphere — and it works brilliantly. The spectacular garden is the centrepiece: shaded terraces, rockeries, fountains, two outdoor bars and a proper entertainment stage where live bands and tribute acts perform regularly. Inside, there’s a further bar, a dance floor and a DJ booth.
Food and drinks are great value, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the crowd is always a good mix. The Abbey often rocks until 4am (sometimes later) — making it the go-to for guests who want a proper night out without driving far. One of those places you’ll almost certainly return to during your stay.
Calle Escorpio, Urb. La Florida · Open until 4am · Live acts at weekends
